Post Secondary School Options for Young Adults.

Upon completing twelve years of formal education, mostly in a schooling environment, our young men and women will be at or fast approaching voting age, ready to take on the full responsibilities of the adult world in which they aim to take their place.  It is of interest to note that pre Viet Nam war adulthood was generally recognised to be at twenty one years of age, and twenty first birthdays were seen as a rite of passage into being a fully ordained adult.  How wars change the world.

Having had the fullest possible exposure to all of the jobs and careers and professions on offer through their "Set for Life Curriculum" and those options having been tailored to their years ten to twelve specialised studies, almost all school leavers would be well ready to take on the roles they have determined to pursue.  For those who've chosen further studies through university there would be two options, an immediate start with the HEX payment or upfront payment option or a two year free tuition fee Gap Year option.

The Gap Year option would lead to free university tuition as follows. After completing the university entry requirements in year twelve prospective applicants would be offered a two year option to do paid community or social work before commencing their university degree. Options would include joining an armed service, working in National Parks, working in an agricultural industry, joining Volunteers Abroad, working in aged care and so many more options that would broaden every participant’s appreciation of the diversity of community. Free university tuition would rely on signed affirmations from persons with whom they  worked over that period vouching that they are worthy of further studies, the cost borne by society, and with a four year contract obligation.

Mentors would remain an important aspect of the Gap Year scenario when possible, or requested, much like the Scout Movement having Rover Scouts.
